5月23日，美国PPG公司董事会主席迈克尔·麦格雷一行在天津访问期同天津市委副书记、市长张国清进行了会面，并就关于PPG全球研发中心将要落户天津的相关问题进行讨论。
On May 23, PPG Chairman Michael McGarry met with Zhang Guoqing, deputy party secretary and Mayor of Tianjin, during his visit to the city and discussed about setting up the PPG Global Research and Development Center in Tianjin.
迈克尔·麦格雷表示，要加快在津设立全球研发中心的进度，加大新产品的研发力度，深化拓展与中国的全面合作。
Michael McGarry said PPG will speed up the establishment of the Global R&D Center in Tianjin, invest more resources in the research and development of new products and deepen and expand cooperation with China in a comprehensive way.
张国清对迈克尔·麦格雷一行来津表示欢迎，他强调，非常欢迎PPG把全球研发中心落户天津，PPG公司是世界领先的涂料供应商，企业经营业绩突出，当前天津全力推进京津冀协同发展重大国家战略，加快“一基地三区”建设，大力发展新能源，新材料等战略新兴产业，还表示，会为项目的顺利落地提供全方位服务。
The mayor welcomed Michael McGarry and the others. He said PPG is a world leading coating supplier with outstanding achievements and it is welcomed to set up its global R&D centerin Tianjin. He added that the city is currently advancing the significant national strategy of coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, developingstrategic emerging industries such as new energy and new materials, and expediting the construction of Tianjin as a national manufacturing and R&D base, acore shipping zone in North China, a demonstration zone for financial innovation and operation and a reform pilot zone, which, he emphasized, will provide full-scope services to the successful launch of the center.
